A NEW German Doner Kebab restaurant has opened its doors in St Helens.

As the Star previously reported, the food and drink chain has transformed the formerly empty unit at the West Point leisure and retail complex, off Linkway West.

German Doner Kebab opened in the former Frankie and Benny's premises this week after work took place convert the unit over recent weeks.

The new premises joins Costa Coffee, Aldi supermarket, Home Bargains and Superbowl on the leisure and retail complex.

The German Doner Kebab chain has numerous restaurants in the north west, including in Preston, Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster, among others.

The company has not yet confirmed the exact number of jobs the St Helens branch has created.

A spokesman in Aptil told the Star the number of jobs "will likely fluctuate to suit the demand we have" which would be better determined once the premises has opened.

The St Helens branch is one of 78 new restaurants, German Doner Kebab intends to open this year as the chain looks to grow to 170 restaurants across the UK in 2022.
